History

Established in July 2022, the Business School at Harbin Institute of Technology serves as the central unit overseeing the Business Administration discipline and its comprehensive program portfolio. It is responsible for undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and professional degrees, postdoctoral training, faculty development, scientific research, talent cultivation, and international collaboration. The Business School also manages professional degree programs (including MBA, EMBA, MPAcc, and MEM), doctoral and master's degree programs for applicants with equivalent academic backgrounds in economics, management, business, and humanities, DBA programs, and advanced research initiatives, fostering integrated development of economics and management disciplines across HIT's three-campus system.

Key Historical Milestones

1920 Harbin Institute of Technology was founded.

1920s Business major was founded.

1955 Engineering Economics Department was established, which was the first engineering economics department among all engineering colleges in China.

1991 The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program was launched into pilot with another nine universities in China.

2002 Became one of the first schools that launch Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program in China.

2011 Launched the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) program.

2012 Launched the Master of Finance (MF) program;Received accreditation from AMBA.

2016 Launched EMBA program at HIT Shenzhen campus.

2017 Received accreditation from the Chinese Advanced Management Education Accreditation (CAMEA);Was re-accredited by AMBA; Passed the AACSB initial self-assessment report;Resumed MBA enrollment at HIT Shenzhen campus.

2018 Launched the first "FinTech MBA" program in China.

2019 Launched the “Venture Capital and Management MBA” program;Co-founded C9+ League of Business Schools.

2021 Received accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

2022 The Business School was established;Launched new MBA programs in AI and in Energy Storage Investment and Management.

2023 Launched an EMBA program in Advanced Technology Investment;Established a Technology Transfer Sub-Center;Co-founded the "China MBA Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program Education Alliance."

2024 Launched a Sci-Tech Innovation MBA program for industries ; Launched EMBA, MBA, and MF programs in Shanghai;Launched MEM program classes in Beijing and Guangzhou;Prepared for DBA programs, Equivalent Qualifications Doctoral/Master's programs, and international programs.

2025 Focus on the development of the Business Administration discipline, including its undergraduate majors, master's  and doctoral programs, professional degree programs, and  postdoctoral research station;Launch new MBA programs in Robotics and Smart Manufacturing MBA, Tech Finance MBA, and Low-Altitude Economy & Commercial Space MBA in Shanghai.
