    The Second FinTech Forum and Opening Ceremony of the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology International Summer School Successfully Held

     On July 21, the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology and the University of Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom co-hosted the Second FinTech Forum and the opening ceremony of the International Summer School of the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology. Under the theme of "Digital-Intelligent Finance and a Sustainable Future: FinTech Empowering Climate Governance and Industrial Transformation," the forum gathered representatives from universities, financial institutions, and technology enterprises to discuss cutting-edge topics including financial technology, artificial intelligence, climate finance, and industrial transformation. Zhang Xiangpei, Assistant Research Fellow at the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology, presided over the opening ceremony.

    Activity Site

     Qu Fayi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology, noted that financial technology serves as a vital force in supporting the real economy, advancing green development, and cultivating interdisciplinary business talents. Leveraging the university's strengths in engineering disciplines, the Business School will deepen its partnership with the University of Edinburgh Business School and build a high-level platform for Sino-foreign exchanges and university-enterprise collaboration.

     Sun Zhiqiang, Deputy Director of the Training Division of the Graduate School of Harbin Institute of Technology, stated that the integration of climate governance, green transition, and digital finance has raised new requirements for enhancing interdisciplinary innovation capabilities. He emphasized that the Business School should deepen international cooperation to build a distinctive education brand of technology-empowered business. Zheng Jiali, Director of the Department of Future Industry at the Business School of Harbin Institute of Technology, also delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer.

     Gbenga Ibikunle, Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Professor at the University of Edinburgh Business School, delivered a keynote report, introducing the interdisciplinary, data-driven research model of the Edinburgh Centre for Financial Innovation and its practical applications in artificial intelligence, financial risk, and climate finance. Professor Hui Xiaofeng from Harbin Institute of Technology, Associate Professor Zhu Yifeng from the Central University of Finance and Economics, and Assistant Professor Zhang Yupu from the University of Edinburgh shared their insights respectively on topics including financial technology development, artificial intelligence, and digital finance for sustainable development.

     Participating students from China and abroad engaged in in-depth exchanges with Professor Gbenga Ibikunle on issues such as interdisciplinary financial technology research, trustworthy applications of artificial intelligence, and capacity building for young talents.

    Industry guests including Pang Jiwei, Deputy General Manager of Harbin Kaina Technology Company Limited, Wu Qiang, General Manager of Heilongjiang Investment Company Limited, and Wang Yuying, Senior Manager of the Financial Markets Department at the Head Office of Harbin Bank, held a roundtable dialogue on topics covering the assessment of sustainable growth capacity of technology enterprises, green financial products and risk management, as well as digital technology empowering smart water management and urban resilience.
