The Future Industry Conference, co-hosted by the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) and the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), was held on HIT’s campus from December 26 to 27, 2025.
Speeches at the opening ceremony were delivered by Su Bo, Deputy Director of the National Manufacturing Power Strategy Advisory Committee and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and former Vice Minister of MIIT; Xu Baitao, Secretary of the CCID Committee for Discipline Inspection; Jiang Jun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Harbin Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Harbin Municipal Government; and Sun Xue, Executive Vice President of HIT. Also in attendance were Gao Zhiyang, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Heilongjiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Data Bureau; Yang Yuxin, Chief Engineer of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology; and Shen Yi, Vice President of HIT. Over 500 participants, including government representatives, experts and scholars, graduate students, and corporate delegates from across the country, attended the conference.

The Future Industry Conference
In his speech, Su Bo highlighted the transformation of China's manufacturing sector from "catching up" to "keeping pace" and, in certain areas, "leading the way." He noted that China possesses a solid foundation for future industries, which have become a strategic imperative for the nation's long-term development. He called for various industries to uphold innovation-driven development to strengthen their foundational capabilities; adopt systematic thinking to build industrial ecosystems; follow demand-driven approaches to enhance application orientation; and foster open cooperation to expand development horizons. In conclusion, he stated that by grasping the underlying principles of industry development and making coordinated efforts, the industry can collectively advance the high-quality development of China’s future industries and enhance their global competitiveness.

Xu Baitao stated that as an institution striving to build a high-end think tank in the industrial and information technology sector, the China Center for Information Industry Development regards serving the future industrial development as a vital mission. Taking this conference as an opportunity, it will deepen cooperation with Harbin and other regions, share research findings, establish collaborative platforms, and jointly promote industrial implementation to contribute greater strength to the high-quality development of China's future industries.

Jiang Jun emphasized that Harbin, with its solid industrial foundation, robust scientific research capabilities, and pioneering spirit of innovation, bears significant responsibilities and possesses tremendous potential in the forthcoming wave of future industries. He expressed hope that the Conference could foster innovation ecosystems among universities, research institutions, and enterprises, jointly explore industrial application scenarios, and build open collaboration platforms. This would accelerate the transformation and implementation of more innovations in Harbin, injecting robust momentum into Northeast China’s revitalization and contributing Harbin’s strengths to the nation’s future industrial development.

Sun Xue stated that HIT possesses substantial research foundations and cutting-edge technological reserves in core future industry sectors. She expressed hope to collaborate with all sectors to explore industrial cluster cultivation strategies and develop multidisciplinary talent, so as to offer support for the development of the future industry innovation hubs and contribute wisdom and strength to cultivating new productive forces and revitalizing old industrial bases across China. She hopes the Conference will serve as a bridge in deepening the integration of academia, business, and future industries, ensuring that academic research can address industry challenges and further empower innovation.

The opening ceremony featured the launch of the “Future Industries 50 Forum” and the inauguration of the Future Industries Department at HIT Business School. The Future Industries 50 Forum aims to build consensus on key issues in future industries, strategically position emerging sectors, explore new economic growth drivers, and bring together top talents from government, industry, academia, research, and application. It will establish a cross-disciplinary, high-level exchange platform to provide intellectual support and practical guidance for the high-quality development of China’s future industries. The research team led by Ma Tao, Dean of the HIT Business School, released the “2025 China Strategic Emerging Industries and Future Industries Development Report” under the theme of “Fostering and Expanding Emerging and Future Industries, Optimizing Major Productive Forces Layout”. In response to the four strategic emerging pillar industries and six future industry directions outlined in the “Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development”, Ma Tao and his team proposed an exploratory measurement model, conducting an exploratory assessment and city-level analysis of China’s future industry cultivation by 2025. This reflects HIT’s research orientation of conducting fundamental studies on national future industry strategies through interdisciplinary collaboration and targeting cutting-edge fields.

At the main forum, keynote speeches titled “Outlook on China’s Future Industry Development in 2026,” “Ecosystem Building as a Long-Term Strategy for Autonomous Software Development,” and “The Gateway to Intelligent Computing,” were delivered respectively by Pu Songtao, Director of the CCID Think Tank’s Future Industries Research Center; Shen Yi, Vice President of HIT; and Xiong Yan, Chairman of Guofu Capital and Founder of the GPU Free Platform, President of HIT Beijing Alumni Association, and Industry Practice Mentor at the HIT Business School. The attendees also engaged in high-level dialogues on opportunities and challenges in future industry development.

Centered on the theme “Pioneering New Frontiers, Embracing Future Industries for Quality Growth”, the Conference was co-hosted by CCID Publishing Media Co., Ltd. and the HIT Business School. During the Conference, 13 parallel forums and roundtable discussions were held, including the Annual Forum on Low-Altitude Economy and Commercial Aerospace, the Annual Forum on Future Manufacturing and Industrial Robotics, the Annual Forum on Embodied Intelligence and Computing Power, the Annual Forum on New Energy and Energy Storage, and the Annual Forum on FinTech and Technology Finance.
